Amy:

I too, have one of the 6 wheel dollies, and it solved my biggest problem
- getting the pedal harp in and out of the house (I have 3 steps) when
my official harp hauler isn't around (the hubby - he just picks the darn
thing up). The 6 wheeler is heavy, doesn't turn corners sharply and is
a bit pricey. It is however a prince at doing those stairs. I can haul
the pedal harp up 8 steps before I poop out, and usually if there are
more steps than that I look for an elevator or a large freindly guy. (I
realize this is a sexist comment, but you do what you have to to get
your harp moved)

I used to have a devise that was basically a wheeled axle with two
clamps that clamped on to the back feet of the harp. It was very light,
maneuverable and fairly easy to clamp on and off the instrument. It was
also extremely cheap - I think if you bought an "offical" one it was
about $80, but I made one from materials I got at the hardware store for
$25 and it served me well for about 10 years. I couldn't use it on
stairs though and that was why I bought the cart.
