Recently, a kind harpmanitarian suggested:

>Join Friends for the Ethical Treatment of Harps; annual suggested
>donation: $30; your donation pays for our salaries, and more,
>including Safe Homes for Harps and other programs administered by the
>Harp Interest Section of Healing Harmonicas for Humanity in Honolulu,
>Hi. and Trailer Springs, Arkansas. Buy our line of strings: "Tested
>on People, Not Harps!"

Please accept my virtual $30, to be used in the rescue of these poor
unfortunate harps. If I may suggest, you might get a better reception
if you followed the lead of Sally Struthers and the like:

Offer sponsership of specific harps, that way donor's could choose
pedal or lever, and/or any "nationality" they prefer, be it Paraguyan,
Irish, Gothic or what-have-you. You could have the harps write
letters (or perhaps just notes) to their sponsers, and send pictures
of them in their harp-school uniforms, and etc. Each donor would thus
be assured that "their" harp was being cared for, properly immunized
and fed, and that whole villages of harps are being healed one small
harp at a time.

Also, I would advise against mentioning your salary at all. Far
better we all go about thinking you do this out of the kindness of
your heart--all the while living on the residuals of your outstanding
professional accomplishments.

Just a thought...
