John,
I think there is enough fluff on the harplist that we do not need to read
messages such as "Buying Any Harps - BE CAREFUL". Just wastes my time and
those looking for useful information.
Cynthia

Please excuse my late reply; I am currently enroute to the Gamla Fiskar
and Mittelshmerz conferences in Europe and must rely on satellite links
to my laptop to stay abreast of fast-moving harp list events.
Your interesting comments were deeply appreciated. I actually don't
determine what I post; it is determined in committee by our interest
group, the Harps for Haiti section of Healing Harmonicas for Humanity.
We have representatives from the musical side of the harp world, as well
as commercial harp sellers and harp practitioners. I am included because
I can type.
We share your concern regarding the treatment of harps, and on the basis
of your letter have initiated a program where various harp-sellers would
voluntarily allow us to inspect their shops so that the actual care and
storage of their harps could be certified as meeting basic standards for
humane care. Harp sellers/resellers who successfully meet this standard
could then be posted on the HHH homepage so harp buyers could have a
choice. Please consider participating in this exciting program, or
visiting one of our retreats at the Trailer Springs, Ark. facility.
I have been successfully selling my fluffy comments commercially, to a
national audience, and am as concerned as you seem to be about them
appearing free on the internet. Perhaps there is some way I could be
reimbursed for my postings to the harp list, just as various harp
magazines reimburse me for my drawings and columns. This is an
interesting point I will take up in committee when we discuss the
ramifications of your letter; I have written abrasive letters before, but
changed to fluff because its smoother texture is easier to swallow.
Once again, thank you for your interest in our efforts.
