First, I believe it's "crwth" as in "the vowels are a, e, i, o, u,
sometimes y, and sometimes w".

Second, there's a violin maker somewhere here in the Pacific Northwest
that makes and plays them. As far as I know, they make a full line
of the viol family - from a half size violin to a double bass. I
can try to find their contact information if you'd like, but I
don't have it immediately to hand.
