Sorry to hear about your cancellation but cheer up, things could
be worse. In a week or two before Christmas one year I went to the
restaurant in Berkeley where I regularly performed for a living. As I
approached, I noticed that this particular corner at Ashby and College
was oddly darker than usual. As a matter of fact, the lights were off and
cuddling up to the glass window I noticed that I could see the stars
through the roof of the restaurant. Apparently the night before, the art
film theater next door had caught fire burning both the theater, the
restaurant and a popular metaphysical bookstore in a matter of an hour or so.
I was kind of shocked because I had several thousand dollars worth of
sound equipment, harps and guitars regularly stored there as I played
almost daily.
Not to worry ... the next day I found out that the firemen had
rescued all of my equipment and it was held for me at the local fire
station and so I went and retrieved everything with lots of thanks to the
folks who had taken the trouble to save my things rather than let them burn.
Believe me, I was grateful down to my toes. The harp was a beautiful
one-of-a-kind hand-carved harp that would not have been easily replaced.
There ... I hope this little story cheers you up a bit!
Please file this one under "Things could be worse...but luckily they aren't!"
:)
with a grace-note or two,
Adam
