Hi there,

Remember the agony and trauma engendered by having my triple harp
converted to a pile of toothpicks by a parent with a harp case at a
Harpathon?

Well, the matchsticks have been glued back together, the macrame of 73
detached strings has been undone and a small pile of kindling is now a harp
once again.

There are scars and the iron bracket has had to be extended to the whole
length of the neck but it looks pretty much the same as before the
accident.

It will be a long time before I will know if the sound is comparable but at
least I have her back.

The cautionary tale aspect of this is make sure your insurance is adequate.
For various complexities, the financial aspect had to go through a local
harp repair co. Because their quote would be 400 pounds more than the
insured figure, the insurance co. could have taken and sold my harp as it
would be paying out the total insurance value. Fortunately, they understand
that the instrument is special to me (and what are they going to do with a
repaired bizarity like a triple) so I just have to pay the premium again
and I get to keep my baby! This whole thing was really scary so get your
valuations updated annually. I have just discovered that my Grecian is at
least 1500 pounds below basic value..so up goes the premium but it's better
than losing the harp!

Be happy,

Mike and the 'all new*' Antoinette!

*Well, restored bits;-)
