I rented their 30 string nylon harp (student model, I think) for 4 weeks
in Scotland this summer. Because I think you have to judge each harp's
sound, appearance, string tension, price, etc. for yourself, I won't
comment on those aspects of Starfish Designs' harps. What I will say is
that Mike and Gay Anderson couldn't have been more helpful to me
before and during my trip. They had told me to take the bus from
Glasgow to Fort William and get off at the bus shelter at the north end of
the bridge at Ballachulish. Well, I missed the bus and 2 hours later than
he was expecting me, I stepped of a bus in the middle of nowhere, in
the rain, and there was Mike Anderson to take me to the B&B they had
found me. The harp and a cup of hot tea were waiting in the living room.
The harp had a soft case and a shoulder strap which enabled me to
travel the next day in the rain for 12 hours by 3 different buses and a
taxi with the harp, a duffle bag, a backpack and a shoulder bag. Mike
and Gay's kindness carried me a great deal of that way.
