Well...mostly the 'it would be good exposure' is a cheap trick. But
not always. Right now, I'm in charge of my church's Christmas
Craft Fair. I asked if any members of our harp circle could play
for free (or maybe I could slip 'em a free lunch). We really
can't afford to pay them, but for folks who are just starting
to play in public, it's probably a worthwhile thing.
