Dear Mike,

Thank you for letting us participate in your creative process. I
really enjoy the way you put yourself out here and share how things work
for you. I think it's really clear that what you're doing is working for
you. Historical or traditional facts or ideas may offer some comfort or
validation intellectually for how you play. I know some people who have
really gone ahead of us and done some great scholarship and research to
find out some of these bookmarks from the past that are very helpful and
added them to the great community resource of the harp or folk harp world.

Ultimately, a creative person ... which you show all the signs of
being ... develops what I think of as a self-authorizing streak ... an
ability to give oneself the permission to make music out of the total
fusion of your innermost musical self, with all your layers of
musicality, feeling, and intuition working together with everything
you've learned or heard. There's so much more life force when someone
plays music from inside out rather than outside in but it all can work
together. It sounds like you've already struck your golden balance
between "enthusiasm and discipline." I have a hunch the people who hear
you play are very lucky people.

with a grace-note or two,

Adam
