Subject: Chess stuff hopefully nipped in bud
Dear harplist members,
I sent a warning message to the chessclub list adminstrators informing
them that someone with a bogus email address has attempted to subscribe
the harp mailing list to the chess club. Hopefully someone on their end
will undo this subscription before all hell breaks loose. It seems that
someone named "Kingston" has set up an email application in which they
have declared their email address to be "harp@mit.edu." This looks like
maliscious mischief but it may be just fumble fingers or a lack of
knowledge of the way email programs work. Given that I think Henry Houh
is not on duty as the harp mailing list adminstrator until the 25th, I
hope the people who run the chess mailing list got the message loud and
clear. I have not heard back from them yet as of this time (7:40 am,
Monday). BTW, don't respond to this message to the whole list or we
will have a ton of unwanted messages popping up in all our mailboxes.
