It seems that in all of this discussion about lessons or not that 2 very
important aspects are being overlooked:

1.Cost of the lessons-remember that just getting the harp is a serious
financial outlay and that alone may preclude the possibility of lessons for
a while.

2. Availability of teachers-the folk harp is still a rather obscure
instrument in most cities and it can be very difficult to find a teacher in
one's area. If no teacher is readily abailable, get books and videos and do
your best until you can find a teacher-don't deny yourself the fun or
beauty of the instrument because of not having a teacher. Besides, it also
depends on why one plays harp-for personal fun, to play weddings or small
concerts, or to be a full time professional musician.

Whichever path you choose-don't lose your love for the instrument and the music!
