Phillipe wrote to me mentioning the Double Harp as another symmetrical harp
regarding what I wrote : <Did you know that the only standardized symmetrical
harp is the Paraguayan
harp? The unique double neck design and perfectly centered strings has
allowed for a long time to all left handed harpists to reverse the role of
the hands in that country>
Notice that I said "standardized" but OHHH NOOOOOO! forgot the magic word
"FOLK." I MEANT "STANDARDIZED SYMMETRICAL FOLK HARP." Sorry!
What makes an instrument a real folk instrument? Is the DOUBLE HARP A FOLK
INSTRUMENT? Is the Triple Welsh Harp also a folk instrument? Was any of these
last two types of harp widespread in the general population? I do not know.
Robin probably knows the answer. I guess I should rephrase it to: <THE ONLY
PERFECTLY SYMMETRICAL STANDARDIZED SINGLE ROW OF STRINGS FOLK HARP IS THE
PARAGUAYAN HARP> Wohhhhh this is getting serious isn't it?
Happy 1997!
