Re: self vs teacher

I had a teacher about 5 years ago. She taught at a local university and
I thought she was very good. I took lessons for about a year.
Unfortunately, I am now teaching myself by way of Sylvia's books. The
worse part I feel is what kind of bad habits I am forming which will
hinder my progress later. I have played other instruments but nothing
compares or captures my attention as much as a harp. So whether I have
a teacher or not I have to continue to play.

While I'm not interested in the professional life, I do want to play for
an audience. I believe that brings out the best in a performer after
the stage fright subsides. Unfortunately, I haven't passed that stage
and get sweaty fingers which makes it hard to concentrate and play.

As an aside, does anyone know of any teachers in the Livermore area?

Cheers,
Bruce
