My pet cockatoo often sings along with recorded music. I knew a milestone
would be reached when she would decide to sing along with my practicing.
Well, tonight was the night, baby. The bird with the tin ear has voiced
her approval - sounds like music to her, bless her little heart.
I absolutely adore this instrument in a way I never loved the piano,
guitar, or recorder. What a gorgeous sound it makes, even with my still
tentative hands.
And yes, my harp has already told me her name. I have never named any
object before, but as I was walking by her a few days ago, I got a flash
that her name should be "Penelope". And so it is.
You know it don't come easy..... (That's a song, not my bad grammar ;>)

P.S. I'm using a combination of books by Sylvia Woods and Ann Heymann
and arrangements of Early Music by Debbie Friou and John Hines. I've even
taken a feeble stab at working out my own harp arrangements to recorder
music. Too bad I have to go back to work next week. That plus rehearsals
for the play that I am in will definitely cut into my practice time. Boo
hoo.
