>>My question may seem frivolous, but it's not. I have been lying in bed

>>of my long (!) life I have played the following instruments: zither,
>>viola, violin, banjo, ukelele, and piano, all stringed instruments. In
>>all that time I never had a string break, and I never knew anyone who

I play violin, banjo, ukelele, zither, autoharp, dulcimer, piano, clarinet
and harp as well as recorder, harmonica and harp. The only instruments that
have never broken a string are the clarinet and harmonica. Of course, being
70 years old gives me much more perspective on the problem than most. I have
repaired many instruments and built many. Everyone who has come to me for
instrument repair has had breaking string stories. All I can tell Marijo is
not to be so impatient waiting for her strings to break.
