In the thirties Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. hired Master Harp builder J.
F. Buckwell to build a harp strung with tire cord as a promotion for it's
newly introduced "super twist" tire cord. This small folk harp
affectionatly known as the "rubber harp" was played many times on national
(USA) radio by George Lyons (composer of "the Spagatti Rag.") Also I have
a photo the builder showing the harp to John Philip Sousa.
Mr Buckwell commented that the harp had supriseing tone.
Super twist tire cord was made of cotton.
