In Tolkien's Middle-earth universe, Eru the Creator created the
Powers, who then sang everything else into being in the Great Song.
(This is not in the *Lord of the Rings* trilogy, nor in *The Hobbit*,
but can be found in some of his earlier work, posthumously edited by his
son Christopher Tolkien.
Can you imagine the excitement of any harper who might discover even
a fragment of *that* music?

Yep, I'm back, folks. If anyone tried to send me email since around
Christmas and it bounced, well, I'm sorry; I got stuck with another
horrible
let's-subscribe-her-to-another-experimental-email-system-without-telling-
her mess, at a time when I am so snowed under by work that I have barely
had time to look at work-related email, let alone the other stuff that
helps keep me sane. God bless Henry, who has put me back.
