Robert ap Huw Symposium

PREFACE

We are very pleased to welcome you to take part in this Symposium: it is the second event organized by the Centre for Advanced Welsh Music Studies, following its successful inaugural conference in September 1994. The main purpose of the Symposium is serious discussion of issues arising from the ap Huw manuscript (Lbl Add MS 14905) in small or plenary groups, informed by papers and presentations. Each discussion session will focus on a particular theme and address a series of set questions. It is intended that all papers will ultimately be published bilingually in the journal of the Centre for Advanced Welsh Music Studies, Welsh Music History (Hanes Cerddoriath Cymru).

[Symposium specific notices omitted]

Thanks are due to the Vice-Chancellor and to the University of Wales, Bangor for use of facilities; to Mrs. Glenda Carr and the Translation Unit for the simultaneous translation service; to Miss Rachel Ley for general translation; to Mr. Robert Evans and Mr. William Taylor for offering the recital on Thursday evening; to all speakers for their contribution, and to Mrs. Helen Roberts and Dr. Peter Flinn for general help with the organization of the event.

John Harper (Symposium Chairman)
Sally Harper (symposium Secretary)
