This Index covers issues of the Folk Harp Journal (FHJ) from number 30 through 102 (September 1980 through Winter 1998). This updates the printed version of the Index which was distributed to the members of the International Society of Folk Harpers & Craftsmen (ISFHC) with the Fall 1994 issue (#85). Copies of the printed version are still available and cover Issues #30 through #83. Contact the Fellows at the address below for a copy.

SUBJECT HEADINGS
The subject headings are in CAPITAL LETTERS. The authors/
composers/ arrangers are in upper/lower case. A person can be an
author, composer, arranger, and the subject of an article.
Everything concerning the person is listed under his/her name. When a
person writes an article about him/herself, the person is noted as both an
author and a subject.
TITLES
Titles of music printed in Folk Harp Journal are in quotes.
Book titles and recording titles are also in quotes but are
followed by the author/ artist in parentheses.
SUPPLIED INFORMATION
Information in square brackets [ ] was supplied by the
Indexer (Lowri Sprung). When the author of an article could not
be determined, the article was listed under: [author unknown].
CROSS REFERENCES
Cross references lead the reader from an unused SUBJECT
HEADING to the one that's used. Example: METAL STRUNG HARPS--
LOOK UNDER: WIRE STRUNG HARPS. The articles are found under
"WIRE" not "METAL."
INITIAL ARTICLES
The words: A, AN, THE, at the beginning of subject
headings and titles have been ignored by the indexing software.
Look under C for "The Chieftains," under O for "The Owner's
Daughter." However, look under A for "An Triskell" because the
word "AN" in this case is not English.
IDIOSYNCRASIES:
A number of subject headings contain terms that are open to interpretation. These terms, such as FOLK HARPS, CLAIRSEACHS, CELTIC HARPS, etc., have been applied when the article specifically mentioned them. The reader is invited to explore what these terms mean and make his/her own distinction.
